Northrop Grumman Awarded $44.1 Million Contract for RF Transmitters for B-1B Bomber's EW System
Northrop Grumman has secured a $44.1 million contract to supply RF transmitters for the AN/ALQ-161A electronic warfare system on the B-1B bomber. The contract, announced by the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency, spans three years, with completion expected by March 2029. The AN/ALQ-161A system enhances the B-1B's capability to identify and counter threats from enemy radar and missiles, providing comprehensive coverage and automated threat response.

Northrop Grumman has been awarded a $44.1 million contract by the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency for RF transmitters for the B-1B Lancer's AN/ALQ-161A electronic warfare system. The contract is set for three years, with work expected to conclude by March 2029.
The AN/ALQ-161A, an integrated RF countermeasures system, allows B-1 bomber crews to defend against radar and missile threats, offering 360-degree coverage and a tail warning function. The system can automatically prioritize threats and manage RF jamming to protect the aircraft's position.
