Norwegian Ambassador Christian Halaas Lyster, at the 78th anniversary of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (JBLFMU), emphasized the need for actionable steps in decarbonization and digital defense in the maritime sector.

He outlined Norway's goals of reducing shipping emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieving a carbon-neutral fleet by 2050. JBLFMU leaders, including Chairman Mary Lou Arcelo, stressed the importance of aligning policy with practice for a resilient maritime industry. Lyster also announced a forthcoming maritime cybersecurity conference in Manila, underscoring the importance of training in digital defense alongside traditional seamanship.
