Nova and RSK Launch Floating Solar Farm at Cheshire Quarry
The UK's latest floating solar farm, a 400kW array, is now operational at Arclid Quarry, enhancing energy efficiency for Bathgate Silica Sand. This project is pivotal for reducing carbon emissions in quarry operations and stabilizing energy costs.

Nova has successfully initiated a 400kW floating photovoltaic array at North Arclid Lake, Cheshire, for Bathgate Silica Sand. Comprising 650 floating solar panels, the installation aims to decarbonize quarry operations and lower energy expenses without halting business activities.
Developed in collaboration with RSK, the project was completed within six months. This new energy asset, equivalent in size to two Olympic swimming pools, is expected to enhance energy security and cost control for Bathgate Silica Sand. The successful implementation of floating solar technology may influence similar projects across the UK, aligning with the country's 2035 energy targets.
