The Nowell family has filed a lawsuit against CPS Energy, claiming that a natural gas leak from the company’s system caused an explosion in their home on Preston Hollow Drive on April 21. They are seeking over $1 million in damages, asserting that CPS Energy's failure to maintain aging infrastructure constitutes gross negligence.
This incident follows another explosion affecting neighboring residents Mayte Reeves and Jose Ochoa, who also filed suit against CPS Energy. The plaintiffs in the Nowell case include Timothy Nowell, Kimberly Nowell, and their minor daughter Ali, all of whom sustained serious injuries.
Brooks Army Medical Center reported their condition as critical for the parents and stable for the daughter. CPS Energy has not publicly commented on the pending litigation.
