NPCIL Reconnects Tarapur Atomic Power Station's Unit-1 to Grid After Renovation
FUSION & ADVANCED NUCLEAR POWER
The Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) has reconnected Unit-1 of the Tarapur Atomic Power Station to the national grid following a comprehensive life-extension renovation program. This milestone reinforces the long-term operational reliability and safety of India’s oldest nuclear facility, operational since 1969.
The renovations were conducted under strict regulatory oversight and aligned with global nuclear safety standards. NPCIL reported that Unit-2 is in advanced stages of renovation and will soon be reconnected. Together, Units 1 and 2 have generated over 100,000 million units of clean electricity.
