NRG Energy will construct a 455-megawatt natural gas power plant at its Greens Bayou facility in Harris County, Texas, with a capital investment of $617 million. The project has been designated as a qualified initiative under the Texas Jobs, Energy, Technology, and Innovation (JETI) program.

Expected to start generating power in 2028, the facility will support the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) and is part of efforts to meet rising energy demand.
