NSWC Crane Develops Cost-Effective Drone Killer Cartridge with 92% Kill Rate
The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) has developed the Drone Killer Cartridge (DKC), designed to enhance the effectiveness of standard military weapons against drone threats while minimizing collateral damage. The Marine Corps plans to implement DKC at the operator level, improving kinetic kill capabilities and reducing costs. DKC allows for effective engagement with existing rifles and machine guns, providing broader terminal coverage and requiring only an ammunition change for rapid fielding.

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) has created the Drone Killer Cartridge (DKC), achieving a 92% kill rate against drones. The Marine Corps intends to use DKC to enhance capabilities with existing weapons, providing a significant improvement in counter-drone operations while reducing collateral damage.
DKC's design allows for effective engagement at extended ranges and offsets aiming imperfections. Developed using NSWC Crane's internal funding and support from the Department of Homeland Security, DKC can be rapidly integrated, requiring only an ammunition change for deployment. The technology is also available for licensing to commercial manufacturers for various applications beyond military use.
