Ochoco Irrigation District to Launch Floating Solar Project for Local Grid
The Ochoco Irrigation District plans to develop a 3-acre floating solar array on Ochoco Reservoir, generating approximately 900 kilowatts of electricity for the local grid. The project aims to reduce water evaporation and improve water quality. It will be funded by a $1 million federal grant and will support low-income households through the Community Solar Program, lowering energy costs for Prineville ratepayers.

The Ochoco Irrigation District is initiating a floating solar project on a 3-acre area above Ochoco Reservoir, designed to generate about 900 kilowatts of electricity for the local grid. This project will not only provide renewable energy but also help decrease evaporation and enhance water quality.
Funded by $1 million in federal support, the project will soon be put out to bid. Additionally, it will facilitate reduced energy costs for low-income households through the Community Solar Program, benefiting the local Prineville community.
