Odisha Colleges Directed to Shift to PNG for Hostel Kitchens Amid LPG Shortage
The Odisha Higher Education Department mandates the transition to Piped Natural Gas (PNG) for hostel kitchens to address LPG shortages. This directive aims to ensure continuous meal preparation for students in affected areas.

The Odisha Higher Education Department has mandated that all colleges arrange for Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections in hostel kitchens where infrastructure permits, in response to ongoing LPG shortages. Institutions in Bhubaneswar, Balasore, Berhampur, Jeypore, and Sambalpur are prioritized for this transition.
Colleges are urged to expedite the procurement of PNG connections and to adhere to safety protocols while using gas. A compliance report detailing the implementation of this directive is due by June 30. Failure to adapt could disrupt meal services for students.
