Oklahoma House Advances Bill to Establish GAS Hub for Oil, AI, and Space Research

DEFENSE

The Oklahoma House advanced House Bill 3176 to establish the Oklahoma Gas, Artificial Intelligence and Space Research Hub. This hub will facilitate collaboration among federal and state entities, educational institutions, and private industry to secure funding for energy and defense technologies.

The bill, led by Rep. Nick Archer, is inspired by a visit to the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. The estimated fiscal impact is over $831,000, raising concerns among some lawmakers about its focus on oil and gas. Despite these concerns, the bill passed the House with 51 votes and moves to the Senate for further consideration.
