OleeSpace Develops 20km Wireless Laser Communication System Achieving 10GBPS in Four Months
OleeSpace has successfully developed a wireless laser communication system capable of 20km range and 10GBPS speed in just four months. Founded in 2023, the start-up aims to provide a cost-effective alternative to traditional fibre optic cables, particularly for defence applications.
The system uses free-space optical communication (FSOC) with laser beams to transmit data, eliminating the need for physical infrastructure that is costly and difficult to maintain in challenging terrains. With a funding total of ₹27 crore, OleeSpace has conducted field tests with the Indian Navy and Air Force, and plans to target 100 Gbps bidirectional FSOC systems by 2027. The company is also looking to deploy over 10,000 optical laser nodes across India and expand manufacturing capabilities in Pune, Bengaluru, and Vietnam.
