Omani Startup Drone Lens Advances AI Drone Inspections for Aviation
Drone Lens, an Omani startup, is set to revolutionize aircraft inspections with AI-driven drones, reducing inspection times significantly. The project emphasizes local innovation in aviation technology and prepares for international exhibition representation in 2026.
Drone Lens, an AI-based autonomous aircraft inspection platform from Oman, is designed to automate external inspections, reducing the time from eight hours to under one hour. The project, initiated in 2023 as a university graduation assignment, is led by Luqman Sulaiman Khamis Al Dhafari and includes a team of six engineers specializing in aeronautical engineering, robotics, and AI.
The startup has been recognized as the Best Graduation Project and is now part of significant incubation programs. Drone Lens will represent Oman at ITEX 2026 in Kuala Lumpur on May 18-19. The initiative aims to expand into the MENA region, targeting markets in UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, while enhancing its technology with advanced features.
