One Volta Group Proposes Integrated Transshipment Deep Seaport in Keta, Ghana
The One Volta Group has proposed an Integrated Transshipment Deep Seaport at Keta to address coastal erosion and economic decline in Ghana. The proposal includes a 5,000-meter wharf for Ultra-Large Container Vessels and aims to transform Keta into a major maritime hub. It plans to enhance local infrastructure and create jobs, while addressing environmental issues associated with rising sea levels. This initiative is seen as vital for boosting Ghana's maritime competitiveness and fostering regional industrialization.

The One Volta Group (OVG) has proposed an Integrated Transshipment Deep Seaport at Keta, Ghana, to combat coastal erosion and economic challenges. The proposal includes a 5,000-meter marginal wharf for Ultra-Large Container Vessels, with a throughput capacity of five million TEUs annually.
The port aims to operate under a hub-and-spoke model, reducing shipping costs and enhancing maritime trade. The project would also serve as a coastal defense system. OVG envisions linking the port to Ghana's mineral-rich regions and landlocked states, promoting industrialization and job creation. Local leaders emphasize the project’s potential but stress the importance of feasibility for attracting investment.
