Operation Rescue South Sudan Claims Attack on SSPDF Base in Nadapal

DEFENSE

Operation Rescue South Sudan (ORSS) has claimed responsibility for an attack on a South Sudan People's Defence Forces (SSPDF) base in Nadapal, Eastern Equatoria State, on January 2. The assault occurred around 5:00 a.m. and involved collaboration with elements from the Sudan People's Liberation Army-In Opposition (SPLA-IO).

ORSS reported at least 12 government soldiers killed and claimed to have seized eight PKM machine guns and 15 AK-47 rifles. The operation was led by Cdr. Daniel Lopidio.

ORSS renewed calls for civilian support and urged the government to step down, while appealing for international backing for peace efforts. Separately, SPLA-IO announced its capture of Nadapal and Yuai in Jonglei State, claiming SSPDF bases had fallen in both locations.
