Operation Sindoor Ongoing, India Ready for Future Pakistani Provocations: Army Chief
Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi confirmed that Operation Sindoor, initiated on May 7, 2025, in response to a terror attack in Pahalgam, is still active. The operation targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, eliminating over 100 terrorists.
General Dwivedi warned that any future provocation from Pakistan would be met with a decisive response. He noted that the Indian forces were fully mobilized and prepared for ground offensives if necessary.
Since the ceasefire on May 10, the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved, with only two cases of new terrorist recruitment reported in 2025. The Army Chief highlighted the effectiveness of the operation, emphasizing the decline in active local terrorists and a shift towards tourism in the region, with over 400,000 pilgrims attending the Amarnath Yatra.
