Optimization of Ferulic Acid-Loaded Transferosomal Gel for Enhanced Photoprotection
The study optimized a ferulic acid-transferosome gel (FATF-G) to enhance photoprotection against UVA radiation using response surface methodology. The optimized formulation included 20 mg soy lecithin, 5 mL Tween 80, and a 20 min sonication in a chloroform-methanol solvent.
Characterization showed a high entrapment efficiency of 99.48%. FATF-G exhibited superior photoprotection and skin permeability compared to other formulations, with a permeability coefficient of 4.73 cm/h and solubility of 8137.12 µg/mL.
The gel significantly elevated skin antioxidant defense systems against UVA. The results indicate FATF-G's potential for improved topical delivery and photoprotection.
