Oracle Requests Air Permits for $165B Project Jupiter AI Campus in New Mexico
Oracle seeks air permit approval from New Mexico's Environment Department for microgrids supporting its $165B Project Jupiter AI campus. The project is part of the $500B Stargate initiative for OpenAI's models and will include 700-900 MW facilities. It aims for significant economic impact, creating thousands of jobs and includes community investment for local infrastructure.

Oracle has submitted an air permit application to New Mexico's Environment Department for two natural gas-powered microgrids for its Project Jupiter AI data center. This project is part of the $500 billion Stargate initiative, primarily supporting OpenAI's needs.
The 1,400-acre Santa Teresa campus will host up to 800,000 GPUs. Oracle plans to integrate solar and fuel cell capacity to meet New Mexico's 2045 net-zero targets. The project is expected to generate $384 million in economic impact during construction and create 4,000 construction jobs and 1,500 permanent roles.
Oracle committed $360 million for local schools and $50 million for water system upgrades. Construction is set to begin in September 2025, pending permit approval.
