Ordos City Plans to Promote 1,000 Hydrogen Fuel Cell Trucks by 2028
The Ordos Municipal People's Government has unveiled a plan to promote the development of 6,000 new energy heavy-duty trucks annually by 2028, including a target of 1,000 hydrogen fuel cell trucks. The initiative will enhance hydrogen refueling infrastructure and support various energy routes, while focusing on demonstration projects for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in sectors such as mining and logistics. This strategy aims to establish a sustainable automobile industry chain that integrates green electricity and new energy vehicle applications.

The Ordos Municipal People's Government has released the 'Work Plan for High-Quality Development of the Automobile Industry (2025-2028)', aiming to promote 6,000 new energy heavy-duty trucks annually by 2028, including at least 1,000 hydrogen fuel cell trucks. The plan will support multiple energy routes: pure electric, battery swapping, hybrid, hydrogen fuel cell, and methanol.
It emphasizes the development of hydrogen refueling stations and key charging infrastructure. The initiative aims to create a green automobile industry chain linking green electricity, vehicle manufacturing, and new energy vehicle applications, while advancing hydrogen production and storage technologies.
Demonstration projects will focus on hydrogen fuel cell heavy-duty trucks and buses, with specific applications in mining and logistics. Additionally, the plan includes expanding methanol fuel systems and establishing a diversified energy supply network.
