ORLEN Achieves KZR INiG Certification for Biofuel Production at Plock Refinery
ORLEN has received KZR INiG certification, enabling the processing of bio-based feedstocks at its Plock refinery. This certification allows the company to enhance its biofuel component production, aligning with EU renewable energy targets for transport.

ORLEN's Plock refinery is now certified under the KZR INiG sustainability scheme, allowing the company to process approximately 100,000 tons of bio-based feedstocks annually. Planned upgrades are expected to increase this capacity to around 150,000 tons.
The certification verifies compliance with EU requirements and enables co-hydrotreatment of bio-based materials alongside fossil fuels. Currently, bio-based feedstocks can account for up to 3.5% of the refinery's feed, with ongoing tests to increase this share to 5%. ORLEN aims to expand its domestic feedstock base, including crops like camelina and mustard, supporting Poland's energy transition and agricultural sector.
