ORLEN, Equinor, and Vår Energi Announce Frida Kahlo Gas Discovery in Norway's Sleipner Area
ORLEN Upstream Norway, Equinor, and Vår Energi confirmed a gas and condensate discovery at the Frida Kahlo prospect in Norway's Sleipner area. The discovery, estimated at 7.2 million barrels of oil equivalent, is set to begin production in the first half of 2026. Recoverable resources are projected between 5.3 and 9.4 million barrels of oil equivalent, including up to 810 million cubic meters of natural gas. Equinor operates the license with a 58.35% share, while ORLEN holds 24.41% and Vår Energi 17.24%.

A new gas and condensate discovery has been confirmed at the Frida Kahlo prospect in Norway's Sleipner area by ORLEN Upstream Norway, Equinor, and Vår Energi. The find contains approximately 7.2 million barrels of oil equivalent and will utilize existing infrastructure for production, expected to start in the first half of 2026.
Recoverable resources are estimated between 5.3 and 9.4 million barrels of oil equivalent, with natural gas estimated at 450 to 810 million cubic meters. Equinor operates the project with a 58.35% interest, ORLEN holds 24.41%, and Vår Energi has 17.24%. This discovery follows the earlier Sissel find, emphasizing the Sleipner area's significance to ORLEN's production in Norway.
