Osaka Gas Launches Ship-to-Ship LNG Bunkering in Japan
Osaka Gas has initiated ship-to-ship LNG bunkering services in Japan, utilizing the SETO AZURE vessel. This development expands LNG supply methods, enhancing operational efficiency and resilience in marine fuel delivery.

Osaka Gas has commenced ship-to-ship LNG bunkering, marking a significant milestone in Japan's marine fuel supply landscape. The first operation took place on 21 April, with LNG provided from the SETO AZURE to a dual-fuel Capesize bulk carrier at JFE Steel Corporation's facility in Fukuyama District.
This service complements existing supply methods, including truck-to-ship and port-to-ship, allowing for flexible and reliable LNG delivery tailored to operational needs. The SETO AZURE, delivered on 9 April, will mainly serve the Osaka Bay and Setouchi regions. This expansion is crucial as LNG-fueled vessels grow in popularity for decarbonizing shipping, despite limited infrastructure in Japan.
