Osnabrück University Develops Sustainable Smart Textiles with moduco Partnership
The Osnabrück University at Lingen Campus is advancing sustainable smart textiles through a project funded with €422,000. This initiative aims to improve recycling processes and strengthen local recycling loops using AI and robotics.

The project 'ReSiST-AR - Recycling Strategies of Smart Textiles & automated Robotics' involves an interdisciplinary team focused on enhancing the sustainability of smart textiles. Funded with €422,000 from the European Regional Development Fund (EFRE) and the state of Lower Saxony, this two-year initiative collaborates with the local company moduco, which specializes in industrial robotics.
Moduco contributes expertise in recognizing and sorting various clothing items, essential for automating textile sorting processes. This project not only promotes sustainability but also strengthens the ties between academia and industry in the region. The city of Lingen supports this initiative, highlighting its role as an innovation hub.
