Over €500 Million Agrivoltaic Project Planned in Piana di Catania
A project financing plan exceeding €500 million for a large photovoltaic installation in Piana di Catania has been announced. The project involves land owned by Ipab Pennisi Alessi Allegra and Fresta di Acireale. Companies are now allowed to submit bids by May 11 following a ruling by the EU Court of Justice. The project will be presented by Iride Srl, with additional annual payments to the Ipab and social contributions to Caritas of Acireale. The project aims for social impact, including the construction of community renewable energy plants.

A €500 million agrivoltaic project is proposed for Piana di Catania on land owned by Ipab Pennisi Alessi Allegra and Fresta di Acireale. The deadline for bid submissions has been extended to May 11 due to a recent EU Court ruling affecting project financing rights.
Iride Srl, based in Milan, is leading the project. Costs for the photovoltaic park are estimated at €92 million, plus annual payments to the Ipab and a commitment of €300,000 to Caritas of Acireale for social initiatives. The project also plans to support local communities by constructing two renewable energy plants, with a total budget for these facilities at €1.9 million.
