Pakistan and Saudi Arabia Sign Strategic Defence Agreement Amid Rising Terrorism Threats
Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, highlighted the significance of the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement with Saudi Arabia, signed on September 17, as a cornerstone for regional security amid increasing militant violence. The pact formalizes decades of military cooperation and mutual defense commitments. Ahmad noted the challenges posed by groups like the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) following the Taliban's takeover in Afghanistan. He also discussed Pakistan's economic reforms and its ongoing diplomatic efforts in international forums.
