Pakistan Navy Asserts Maritime Defense Amid Regional Tensions
Admiral Naveed Ashraf emphasized that any challenge to Pakistan's maritime interests will face a decisive military response. The remarks coincide with heightened tensions following India's Operation Sindoor targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan.

Pakistan's Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf stated that any threats to the nation's maritime interests will be met with an appropriate military response. His comments were made during the induction of the PNS Khaibar, the second Milgem-class corvette, into the fleet, part of a contract with Turkish contractor ASFAT Inc signed in 2018.
The navy aims to enhance its capabilities to protect vital maritime trade routes and secure sea lines of communication. This comes in the context of regional tensions, particularly following India's Operation Sindoor in May 2022, which escalated military clashes over terror-related issues. Additionally, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad reported the dismantling of a Pakistan-linked sabotage module, indicating ongoing security concerns.
