Pakistan Navy Issues Tender for Shipborne Laser Weapon Systems Acquisition
The Pakistan Navy has issued a tender for two 10 kW laser weapon systems and associated radars, with a deadline of March 10, 2026. This marks the PN's first procurement step towards shipborne directed energy weapons. The systems will be imported and delivered within six months, aimed at countering unmanned aerial systems. Specifications include a scalable 10 kW high-energy laser with a range of 2.5 km, operational in all weather conditions, and integrated with the ship's combat management system.

The Pakistan Navy (PN) has launched a tender for the acquisition of two 10 kW laser weapon systems (LWS) and accompanying radars, to be installed on surface combatants. The deadline for bid submissions is March 10, 2026.
This initiative represents the PN's first concrete step towards integrating shipborne directed energy weapons, while the Pakistan Air Force is also pursuing high-powered microwave systems. The LWS systems are to be imported on a Free on Board (FOB) basis and delivered within six months.
Technical specifications indicate a 10 kW high-energy laser, capable of scaling to 30 kW, with a 2.5 km engagement range. The system must neutralize targets within five seconds and operate in all weather conditions, integrating with the ship's combat management system. The offered HEL must be in operational service with another military, excluding prototypes.
