Palermo Sociedad Portuaria Leads Colombia in Coke and Steel Exports
Palermo Sociedad Portuaria maintained its position as Colombia's top port for coke exports, handling 1.2 million tons in 2024. Despite challenges, the port reported a 16% growth in early 2025 and plans to expand container operations by 2027, reinforcing its logistical capabilities.

In 2024, Palermo Sociedad Portuaria exported 1.2 million tons of coke, representing one-third of Colombia's total. The port's performance in 2025 was impacted by a crisis that reduced national coke exports from 4 million tons to approximately 3 million tons, with Palermo handling around 900,000 tons.
The terminal has invested in over 5.5 hectares dedicated to coke handling and advanced infrastructure, including a modern terminal operating system (TOS) that integrates AI and IoT. By 2027, Palermo plans to launch a specialized container yard, complementing its existing offerings.
Additionally, an LNG regasification plant is projected for completion in 2027 or 2028, with a planned investment of nearly $100 million. The port also aims to break gender stereotypes in the workforce through its
