Fire Station 26 in Palm Coast, the city's first new station since 2009, was dedicated on May 23, 2023, to Army Sgt. James M. Treber, who died in June 2008 in Afghanistan.
Engine 26, a 2024 E-One Typhoon, is named in his honor and will serve the Seminole Woods and Quail Hollow areas. Treber, a San Diego native and Green Beret, was part of the 7th Special Forces Group and died in a non-combat accident while supporting operations in Afghanistan.
The ceremony included tributes from community members, veterans, and the fire department's honor guard. This dedication reinforces the connection between the firefighters and Treber's legacy of service.
