PDP Demands Reduction of Petrol Profit Margin Amid Consumer Concerns
The Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) calls for a reduction of petrol pump profits from 9.31 PKR to 3 PKR per liter, citing consumer injustice. PDP threatens legal action if the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) does not act promptly on their demands.

The Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the current profit margin of petrol pump owners, which stands at 9.31 PKR per liter, and is demanding an immediate reduction to 3 PKR per liter. PDP's Economic Division President, Abubakar Usman, stated that the current profit levels violate established business norms and warned of potential Supreme Court action if OGRA and the Ministry of Petroleum do not respond.
Usman compared petrol margins unfavorably to the financial sector's lending practices, suggesting they should be significantly lower. The party also raised concerns over economic hardships faced by consumers and called for investigations into government approvals of these high profit margins. Usman criticized the performance of regulatory bodies and proposed mandatory inspections of petrol pump meters.
