PDS Optical has introduced the Perfect Drying System (PDS), a patent-pending technology aimed at improving production efficiency in eyewear for U.S. Veterans. The system saves 80 hours per week by automating the lens-drying and verification process, enhancing quality and reliability.

Developed by manufacturing engineer Ellis Cassity, the PDS utilizes advanced sensors and robotics to streamline operations, allowing jobs to flow directly to the edging station and reducing breakage risks. Key features include dual-surface drying, automated opacity verification, and intelligent tray management.

This innovation has contributed to PDS Optical producing over 1.7 million pairs of glasses, supporting increased demand for eyewear from Veterans due to the PACT Act. The system positions PDS Optical as a leader in eyewear manufacturing in Kentucky.
