Penn State Receives $1.6 Million for Business and Manufacturing Enhancement
Penn State has secured nearly $1.6 million from the Appalachian Regional Commission to boost local business and manufacturing sectors. This funding will support workforce training and job creation, enhancing economic prospects in rural Pennsylvania.

The Appalachian Regional Commission has awarded nearly $1.6 million to Penn State for regional business development and manufacturing modernization. The funding comprises two grants under the POWER initiative: $1,195,785 for the Rural Innovation Network, targeting entrepreneurship and workforce training in agriculture and manufacturing, and $400,000 for the MAPS grant, aimed at integrating mobile robotics for small manufacturers.
Additional local and state funding totals $2,391,444 for the first grant and $800,001 for the second. This investment is expected to create and retain 350 jobs and provide training for 320 workers, highlighting a significant investment in Pennsylvania's economic future.
