Pensana Advances Longonjo Rare Earth Project in Angola, Aiming for 2027 Production
Pensana reports continued construction progress at the Longonjo rare earth project in Angola, with initial production set for 2027. Planned output includes 2,400 t/y of neodymium/praseodymium and 73 t/y of dysprosium/terbium, with a goal to double production post-2030. The project will utilize sustainable hydroelectricity and is linked to the Port of Lobito via the Lobito corridor. Ongoing discussions aim to establish a U.S. mine-to-magnet supply chain, enhancing the project’s strategic importance.

Construction at the Longonjo rare earth project in Angola is on track for commissioning in 2027, with initial production expected to be 2,400 t/y of neodymium/praseodymium and 73 t/y of dysprosium/terbium. Plans are in place to double production post-2030.
Current resources exceed 300 million tonnes, with a drill program aimed at increasing this towards one billion tonnes. The project will be powered by hydroelectricity from the Luaca dam and is connected to the Port of Lobito through the Lobito corridor.
Discussions are ongoing to establish a U.S. mine-to-magnet supply chain. Key pre-construction facilities are operational, and major equipment packages are progressing on schedule.
