Pentagon Cuts Ties with Anthropic AI Over Ethical Concerns and National Security
DEFENSE
The Pentagon has terminated its relationship with AI company Anthropic amid a dispute over ethical use of AI in military applications. Anthropic's CEO, Dario Amodei, stated the company is open to collaboration if its conditions against mass surveillance and autonomous weapons are honored.
The Pentagon demands access to Anthropic's Claude AI for all lawful purposes, asserting it has no intention of misusing the technology. Following a presidential directive, Anthropic has been labeled a supply chain risk, and military contractors are instructed to cease all dealings with the firm. Anthropic will continue to provide services for six months to ensure a transition.
