Peter Döhle Expands Boxship Orders with New Contract at Hudong-Zhonghua
Peter Döhle Schiffahrts is set to contract two additional 14,000 teu containerships at Hudong-Zhonghua, increasing its order total to six units at the yard. This development underscores the company's ongoing investment in boxship capacity amid rising demand in the maritime sector.

Peter Döhle Schiffahrts has secured a contract for two new 14,000 teu containerships at Hudong-Zhonghua, expanding its series to six vessels. This follows a previous order of four ships in 2024, marking Döhle's return to boxship newbuildings after nearly nine years.
The first vessel of the earlier series was delivered in May 2026, featuring a methanol-ready main engine. The new ships are scheduled for delivery in August and October 2028. Additionally, Döhle is diversifying its fleet, having ordered two 3,100 teu feeders and four 2,900 teu feedermaxes, as well as exploring options for five 8,400 teu LNG dual-fuel ships. This strategic expansion could enhance Döhle's market position amid increasing competition in shipping.
