PETROVIETNAM's Focus on Dung Quat Industrial and Energy Ecosystem Development
PETROVIETNAM is prioritizing the development of an industrial and energy ecosystem in the Dung Quat Economic Zone, with a planned investment of approximately $1.5 billion for the Dung Quat Refinery Upgrade and Expansion Project. This initiative aims to enhance processing capacity and establish a robust petrochemical and energy center, addressing both local economic growth and energy security.

PETROVIETNAM is committed to developing an industrial and energy ecosystem in the Dung Quat Economic Zone, with an estimated investment of $1.5 billion for the Dung Quat Refinery Upgrade and Expansion Project, increasing capacity from 6.5 to 7.5 million tons of crude oil annually. The project is anticipated to enter its peak phase following the signing of the EPC contract in July 2026.
Additionally, PETROVIETNAM is coordinating with potential partners to explore high value-added product initiatives, while the National Crude Oil Reserve Project aims for a capacity of 1 million tons to bolster energy security. These efforts, alongside the establishment of a biofuel value chain, position Dung Quat as a national center for petrochemicals and energy, with governmental support essential for successful implementation.
