The Philippine Army has contracted the delivery of 15,626 DSAR-15 5.56mm carbines from South Korea for a total of Php752,007,485.88 (approximately $12,710,000). This follows a public bidding process using the Most Economically Advantageous Bid (MEAB) method and remains below the budget ceiling of Php806,932,000.

The contract was awarded to Dasan Machineries, with local partner United Defense Manufacturing Corporation, after a tender that opened on October 23, 2025. The DSAR-15 features a direct gas impingement or short-stroke gas piston system, weighs approximately 3.0 kg, and has an effective range of up to 550 meters. The acquisition is part of the Carbine, 5.56mm AR15 project, enhancing the existing base established through previous deliveries to the Philippine National Police.
