Philippine Coast Guard Recovers Bodies from Sinking of MBCA Amejara in Davao City
The Philippine Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao reported the recovery of multiple bodies from the sunken motor banca MBCA Amejara, which occurred earlier this week. Initially, five bodies were sighted on January 24, with four located in one search area and one in another.
Despite the recoveries, authorities continue to search for potential survivors. A Philippine Navy vessel has been deployed to retrieve the bodies, and coordination with various government agencies is ongoing to expand search efforts.
As of Saturday afternoon, the number of recovered bodies rose to seven, although some reports of additional bodies were later identified as life jackets. Search, rescue, and recovery operations continue as authorities aim to locate missing passengers and identify the victims.
