The Department of National Defense (DND) of the Philippines and the US Department of War (DoW) are increasing efforts in ship maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities. A delegation, including DND Assistant Secretary Augusto Gaite and DoW Director Dr.
Nelson Williams, assessed the Philippine Navy's Sea System Command (SSC) on July 15. The visit included evaluations of the command's facilities and discussions on defense technology and sustainment strategies.
Potential partnerships with the defense industrial base were also explored, aiming to enhance the Philippine Navy's operational capabilities and self-reliance. Strengthening these MRO efforts could impact regional security and defense industry growth.
