Philippines Boosts Territorial Defense with AFP Reservists and Indian Defense Partnerships
The Association of Reservists and Reservist Administrators of the Philippines (ARRAPI) is urging for the activation and integration of more Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) reservists to strengthen national defense amid regional tensions. Concurrently, India proposes local production facilities for defense equipment in the Philippines, aiming to enhance Manila's military modernization efforts. Both initiatives align with the Philippines' strategic goal to bolster its territorial integrity and defense capabilities amid escalating conflicts in the South China Sea.

The Association of Reservists and Reservist Administrators of the Philippines (ARRAPI) calls for the activation of more AFP reservists to reinforce the country's defense posture amid global tensions. With 180,000 active-duty personnel, the goal is to build a Total Defense Force of one million.
Concurrently, India proposes to establish local production facilities in the Philippines for advanced defense systems, supporting Manila's $35 billion military modernization plan. This partnership is seen as vital for self-reliance and reducing dependency on foreign imports.
The Philippines has already procured BrahMos missiles from India, enhancing its anti-ship capabilities. The collaboration aims to address security challenges in the South China Sea and strengthen bilateral defense ties.
