Philippines DOE Plans 25 GW Renewable Energy Capacity Expansion by 2035
The Philippine Department of Energy (DOE) aims to add 25 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2035 through its Green Energy Auction (GEA) Program, announced at the Renewable Energy Investment Forum. The GEA program will involve competitive bidding for various renewable projects, including solar, wind, and biomass. The DOE plans to auction over 8 GW from 2026 to 2027, with specific auctions focusing on technologies like rooftop solar and floating solar. The initiative supports government targets of 35% renewable energy in the power mix by 2030 and 50% by 2040.

The Philippine Department of Energy (DOE) has unveiled a 10-year plan to add 25 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy capacity by 2035 through the Green Energy Auction (GEA) Program. Announced during the Renewable Energy Investment Forum, the program will conduct competitive auctions for technologies including solar, wind, and biomass.
The DOE targets to auction over 8 GW from 2026 to 2027, with GEA-6 focusing on floating solar and wind, GEA-7 on rooftop solar and solar-plus-storage, and GEA-8 on specialized solar technologies. The government aims for a 35% renewable energy share by 2030 and 50% by 2040.
