Philippines Renewable Energy Capacity Set to Reach 30GW by 2035
The Philippines is projected to increase its renewable energy capacity to approximately 30GW by 2035, from 7.1GW in 2025. This growth is largely attributed to solar PV and wind energy developments, supported by regulatory reforms and investment incentives.

The Philippines' renewable energy capacity is forecast to reach around 30GW by 2035, up from an estimated 7.1GW in 2025, according to GlobalData. Key contributors include solar PV, expected to grow from 3.6GW in 2025 to 18.7GW by 2035, and wind capacity projected to rise from 0.5GW to 7.4GW.
Recent auction rounds have awarded over 10GW of renewable capacity, with significant solar participation, and projects are set for commissioning between 2026 and 2029. Coal capacity is projected to increase from 13.0GW in 2025 to 15.4GW by 2035, while natural gas capacity is expected to expand from 5.1GW to over 10.3GW.
Nuclear power is also anticipated to be introduced, with initial capacity reaching approximately 0.3GW by 2035, diversifying the energy mix. Continued reliance on thermal generation underscores the need for system reliability amidst growing renewable contributions.
