Philippines Secures 60 Mcu.ft./day Natural Gas from Camago-3 Well in Malampaya Phase 4
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced the successful drilling of the Camago-3 well, producing 60 million cubic feet of gas per day, significantly boosting the Malampaya gas field's output. This project, part of an $893 million investment, is projected to extend the field's life by six years and reduce dependency on imported fuel. The government aims for first gas delivery by Q4 2026, with further explorations planned.

The Philippines has successfully drilled the Camago-3 well, yielding 60 million standard cubic feet of gas per day as part of the $893 million Malampaya Phase 4 campaign. This well is projected to hold 2.5 times more recoverable gas than the earlier Malampaya East-1 discovery and is expected to extend the Malampaya gas field's life by six years.
The project aims to reduce reliance on imported liquefied natural gas, as local gas costs P4.80 per kWh compared to P10.30 for imports. The government targets first gas delivery by the fourth quarter of 2026 and has plans for further drilling at the Bagong Pag-asa well, located 30 kilometers north of Malampaya.
