Phlux Technology's Noiseless InGaAs Sensors Target Premium Hunting and Long-Range Shooting Markets
Phlux Technology, a spinoff from the University of Sheffield, is evaluating its Noiseless InGaAs infrared sensors for premium hunting and professional shooting optics. These sensors, operating at 1550nm, offer significantly higher sensitivity than traditional near-infrared detectors.
Initially used in defense and telecom applications, the technology is now attracting interest from manufacturers of high-end laser range finders and low-light targeting systems. Phlux has developed specialized versions of its sensors and partnered with leading manufacturers of 1550nm high-power lasers.
The sensors enable extended effective ranging distances without increasing laser power and improve reliability in challenging environments. Phlux is in discussions with optics manufacturers to support applications that integrate ranging, ballistic computation, and imaging, enhancing performance for professional hunters and precision shooters.
