Picea Robotics Completes Takeover of iRobot, Maintains US Operations and Data Protection
Picea Robotics has finalized its acquisition of iRobot, transforming it into a privately held entity. iRobot will retain its US headquarters in Bedford, Massachusetts, and key operations such as engineering and marketing will remain in the US. The company has launched 'iRobot Safe,' a subsidiary dedicated to data protection, ensuring that US consumer data will not be transferred abroad.
This initiative aims to reassure customers about data governance amidst the ownership change. Prior to the takeover, Picea was already involved with iRobot as a contract manufacturer. CEO Gary Cohen stated that existing Roomba customers will continue to receive product support without disruptions, and future developments may include new robot vacuum models and other robotic assistants.
