Picogrid and 1st Cavalry Division Collaborate on Counter-Drone Defense Integration for U.S. Army
Picogrid has collaborated with the 1st Cavalry Division to enhance counter-drone defense capabilities for the U.S. Army. The defense tech company integrated a multi-vendor sensor network at the National Training Center in Fort Irwin, California, allowing for rapid deployment of an air defense layer.
This initiative is part of the Army Transformation Initiative, which aims to modernize equipment and enhance battlefield advantage. During the 26-02 rotation, Picogrid integrated five sensor products from various providers, enabling detection and tracking of small unmanned aerial systems (UAS).
The setup allowed operators to optimize sensor use, improving situational awareness while managing emissions. Data generated during the rotation was incorporated into existing Army command-and-control systems, aligning new capabilities with ongoing modernization efforts. Picogrid intends to support future Army exercises to further enhance integration and collaboration.
