Planet Labs to Build Satellite Production Facility in Berlin
Planet Labs is developing a satellite component manufacturing hub in Berlin, with an investment of 240 million euros. This facility aims to enhance satellite production and testing capabilities, contributing to Europe's position in the growing space economy projected to reach 2,000 billion euros by 2040.

Planet Labs is constructing a satellite component production facility in Berlin, encompassing approximately 5,000 square meters, with specialized ISO 6 and ISO 7 cleanrooms. The project is managed by Drees & Sommer SE, responsible for overseeing costs, timelines, and quality throughout its phases.
The facility will facilitate the assembly and testing of high-tech components for Pelican Satellites, which provide near real-time data for environmental monitoring. The new European Space Hub will bolster Planet Labs' operations, expanding its workforce by up to 70 employees. As the global space economy is expected to quadruple by 2040, this development is crucial for enhancing Europe's competitiveness against the United States and China in the space sector.
