The project aims to address a 1% annual flooding risk for over 900 properties. Local opposition has arisen due to concerns about the wall's appearance, safety risks from rock armor, and loss of views. Four additional flood gates will be added, with the promenade expected to flood annually. A consultation process is planned to address community concerns.
