Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković emphasized the expansion of the LNG terminal on Krk Island and JANAF oil pipeline during a summit of the European People's Party in Zagreb. The LNG terminal's capacity has been increased to 6.1 billion cubic meters of gas, positioning Croatia as an energy hub in the region.

Plenković met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Parliament President Roberta Metsola to discuss energy security, alternative supply routes to reduce reliance on Russian energy, and support for Ukraine. Additionally, discussions included EU enlargement, particularly regarding Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the importance of transatlantic relations amid global security challenges.
