PLN Reports 19.65% Growth in Renewable Energy Certificate Sales in 2025 Driven by Industrial Demand
PT PLN (Persero) reported a 19.65% increase in Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) sales in 2025, reaching 6.43 terawatt hours, largely due to heightened industrial and commercial demand in Indonesia. The Green as a Service (GEAS) initiative has enabled businesses to verify their renewable energy usage, contributing to reduced carbon emissions. With significant contributions from key industries, PLN continues to expand its REC services to align with national energy transition goals.

PT PLN (Persero) achieved a 19.65% year-on-year increase in Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) sales in 2025, totaling 6.43 terawatt hours (TWh), driven by rising industrial and commercial demand in Indonesia. The Green as a Service (GEAS) REC offering allows businesses to verify their use of electricity from renewable sources, helping them reduce carbon emissions.
Since its launch in 2020, REC sales have shown consistent growth, reflecting increased customer confidence and awareness of energy transition goals. In December 2025, the top ten customers contributed approximately 55% of total REC sales, with significant demand from industries such as mining, manufacturing, and food processing. PLN operates 12 renewable power plants, including geothermal and hydroelectric facilities, to supply green electricity to GEAS customers and plans to enhance its REC services to support national energy transition targets.
