Pāmu Expands Orchard with 70 Hectares of Avocados and 12 Hectares of Blueberries in New Zealand
Pāmu, New Zealand, is developing a cashflow positive orchard at Kapiro Station with 70 hectares of avocados and 12 hectares of blueberries. The avocado trees, yielding up to 24 tons per hectare, are set for their first commercial harvest this year for the 30 hectares planted in 2022. Additionally, six hectares of blueberries are planted in tunnel houses, with another six hectares in development. The orchard utilizes advanced technologies and aims to improve efficiency amidst rising production costs.

Pāmu, New Zealand, is expanding its orchard at Kapiro Station to include 70 hectares of avocados and 12 hectares of blueberries. The avocados, developed since 2020, are yielding up to 24 tons per hectare.
The first commercial harvest from 30 hectares planted in 2022 is expected this year. The operation utilizes 500 megalitres of water annually and employs advanced technologies like robotics to reduce labor costs.
A total of 12 hectares of blueberries have been planted, with harvests prioritized from July. The business aims to meet rising production costs and competition from international markets.
